Details

Join us for a discovery-filled evening as we celebrate the joys of mudlarking, with award-wining author & mudlark, Lara Maiklem.

Bring along your artefacts and have all your questions answered, followed by a book signing to finish the evening. Our independent bookseller, "Spellbound in Sandwich" will be selling copies of Lara’s publications at the event. Lara Maiklem is a licensed mudlark with over 20 years of experience searching the Thames. In 2019 she brought the ancient tradition of mudlarking vividly to life with her award winning, Sunday Times bestselling book, Mudlarking: Lost and Found on the River Thames, which recounted over 2,000 years of London history through the flotsam and jetsam of everyday objects washed-up on the river’s shore. Her new book A Mudlarking Year follows the seasons through this most unique part of the city and delves even deeper into the mud. Lara was made a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 2020 for her work in bringing the Thames and its treasures to public attention.
